A Great Master Has Passed!    

On 10 May 1931, Sifu Ciu Leun was born in Toi Saan County, Fau Sek Village, in Lane Number Five, in the neighborhood of Lunng Pihng.  Toi saan is the same part of Gwangdung Province not far from Hong Kong where, until the 60's & 70's the vast majority of Chinese people who ended up in the united states originated from.  His father had already been to the U.S. to join other brothers in the family and he returned to Toi Saan to find a wife.  Because his father was already an American citizen, even though he was born i n China, Chiu Leun was considered to be an American also, so, later, when he wanted to emigrate to the States, he was issued a U.S. passport and was able to travel easily back and forth to China his whole life.

After going to Hong Kong, Chiu Leun and the otheres had not yet found his younger Gung Fu uncle when he did meet his blood relation and uncle, Chiu Chi-Man. 

Chiu Chi-Man was also a gung fu sifu and taught Northern Eagle Claw (Ying Jaau Faan Ji muhn) and Mh Ga (Wu Style) Taai Gihk Kyuhn (Tai Ji Quan) as well as Chat Sing Tohng (Seven star Praying Mantis), at the Hong Kong Jing Mou Association.  The Jing Mou in Hong Kong had invited Lo Gwong-Yuhk to come from Shanghai a number of years earlier and Chiu Leuns uncle Chiu Chi-Man had learned a great deal of the same style that Chiu Leun himself had spent over two-thirds of his young life studying and perfecting.

In 1966, Sifu Chiu Leun immigrated to New York.  Within the first year or so, he worked as a security guard of sorts.  Soon, he opened the first Gung Fu School in New Yorks Little Italy.  In those days, Chinatown was much smaller and there were very few Chinese businesses above Canal Street.  His first school was on Elizabeth between Broome and Grand Streets.  After a year, he moved to 166 Mott street, one block away where he taught until 1984.  After that, he only taught closed door students.

On Sunday, 15th January 2006, at 3:30 pm. Sifu Chiu Cheung Leun passed to his next life in Beth Israel Hospital in New York City.  He is survived by his two sons, Hing-Wah and Sing-Wah and two daughters, Siu-Bun and Man-Nei.  He will be sorely missed by all of his numerous students.  All wish him a pleasant life to come. 

 Our prayers and thoughts are with the family, and students of the late Grand Master Chiu Luen.

KIDO FAMILY IS GROWING!!!

     We have a new baby in the family. 

On Monday, December 5, 2005,

Amaya was born to Christina and Jonathan. 

They gave birth to their first child  at the

Long Island College hospital.  The proud parents took their daughter home yesterday. God Bless her.

KIDO BUSINESS

To whom it may concern,

     As of March 16, 2005,

I made a public announcement on my website;

formally resigning from the

Puerto Rico Jujitsu Association

and the

International Jujitsu Hall of Fame. 

     This descision was made by me, after 5 years of being totally supportive of these organizations, mission statements and their events.  

     After  several months of consideration on the structural components of these organizations I decided to move on and focus mainly on my own organization the

KIDO RYU.  

     By this:

     I will no longer represent these organizations in the United States or any where else in the world. 

     I no longer wear any insignia or patches representative of this organization (PJA) or the International Jujitsu Hall of Fame. (IJJHF)

      I have deleted the websites I created for the promotion of said organizations, have no  current knowledge of current events, contacts of personel, or future promotions or events they may be sponsoring, promoting,supporting or participating in.

     These days I am only concerned with

KIDO Family business. 

That is the documentation of KIDO,

the spreading of the art form through certain individual (trained by me) throughout the world.

     I am receptive to all community based martial arts programs, world wide that are continuing to reflect the Knowledge to the next generation.

     I remain supportive of many organizations based out of

KUNG FU NEWS

     This weekend (Saturday, April 30, 2005)

Master S. Kwan held his

Annual Kung Fu Championships

in Chicago, llinois.        

The performances and competitions

were of the highest caliber. 

All Students represented their training well. 

We saw Masters Demonstrations, Sparring, Weapons, forms, Full Contact Continuous Fighting, Tai Chi Forms, Tai Chi Weapons, Seven Star Praying Mantis Forms and Weapons.

At the end of the night, all the Disciples, Grand Students, and Students of Master S. Kwan

got together to present a

"Certicate" of "Head Of Family"

 of the Kung Fu Academy of Chicago to Grand Master S. Kwan. 

     The 9th Generation Successor Master to the

Northern Shaolin Seven Star Praying Mantis System. 

Having been taught by GrandMaster John Chung Lee,

Master of the Hwa Yu Tai Chi System, and 8th Generation Successor Master of the Seven Star Praying Mantis System.
